The Stallion Times in collaboration with the Wole Soyinka Center for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) and the MacArthur Foundation has trained 40 Journalists on investigative journalism on Saturday in Kano.
Journalists from different media organisations in Kano attended the workshop which was part of the program “Discussion, and Improvement of Journalism that is G-DRIP Project initiated by Stallion Times”.
The essence of the workshop is to equip journalists with the skills of presenting investigative reports, especially in the area of corruption, and to ensure that public are administered rightly.
Speaking during the training, the Editor-in-Chief of the Stallion Times, Isiyaku Ahmed, who is also the President of the G-DRIP program, said, “We consider that Journalists are running away from investigative reportage or in-depth stories, that is why we intend to do this training, to provide participants with training in the skills needed to be successful as investigative Reporters on major issues that directly affect the lives of the public.”
He explained that the three-year project is geared toward improving the responsibility of the media and promote good governance and accountability.
The Editor-in-chief added that, Stallion Times Newspaper in it’s effort to train the young charm in the industry, decided to engaged Journalists in order to empower them with the new trends.
The participants of the meeting appreciated the techniques and promised to venture into the investigative reporting to ensure corporate bodies are safe from corruption from their managers.
