A team of medical experts, led by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), commenced a crucial operation today to separate Nigerian Siamese twins, Hassana and Hasina. The twins, born on January 12, 2022, in Kaduna, Nigeria, are conjoined at the abdomen, pelvis, liver, intestines, urinary and reproductive system, as well as pelvic bones.

The highly anticipated surgery, undertaken at the King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children of the King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Riyadh, involves the collaboration of 35 consultants, specialists, nursing, and technical personnel. Dr. Al Rabeeah outlined that the procedure would encompass eight stages and is projected to last approximately 14 hours.

This initiative aligns with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who has long prioritized humanitarian efforts. Under the Saudi program for the separation of Siamese twins, which has overseen 130 cases from 23 countries throughout its 33-year span, this marks the 56th successful separation procedure
