ABUJA — A force of over one million youths hailing from the North West region, united under the banner of the Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership, took to the streets of Abuja to reaffirm their unwavering support for Senator Godswill Akpabio as their candidate for the 10th Senate President. Additionally, they endorsed Senator Barau I. Jibrin for the position of deputy.
Honorable Musa Mujahid Zaitawa, Director of Political Affairs for the Assembly, orchestrated the mobilization of these energetic youths and openly challenged a rival group from the North West region, allegedly sponsored by a senator aspiring to the Senate Presidency, who had staged a protest against Akpabio’s candidacy.
In an impassioned speech, Zaitawa emphasized the Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership’s endorsement of Akpabio, who hails from the South-South region, as a means to ensure a balanced and transparent leadership composition in the nation. The Assembly believes that Akpabio’s bid for Senate President will foster unity and maintain the delicate equilibrium of power.

Zaitawa went on to express his awareness of certain individuals from the North West who are vying for the Senate Presidency and accused them of orchestrating these protest groups for their self-serving ambitions. He questioned the legitimacy of those demanding a Senate President from the Northwest, reminding them of the Arewa Youth Assembly’s support for a southern candidate during the presidential elections, when they backed Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Shattima, both Muslims, and secured significant votes from the North West region, contributing to their success.
Highlighting the Assembly’s stance on religious diversity in leadership, Zaitawa stressed their fervent support for Akpabio, a Christian candidate from the South-South, citing his exceptional leadership qualities as the driving force behind their endorsement.
As the race for the Senate Presidency continues, the Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership aims to make their resounding support for Senator Godswill Akpabio heard, as they believe his potential leadership will advance the cause of unity and represent the ideals of the Nigerian youth.
