IPMAN warns fuel marketers against fraudulent activities

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has cautioned fuel marketers against illegal activities that involve using registered filling stations to obtain fuel allocations from the Nigeria National Petroleum Company limited (NNPCL). The warning was issued by IPMAN Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Dan Malam, in a statement to newsmen on Thursday.

The NNPCL management had reportedly complained about the use of registered filling stations by some individuals without any connection to the petroleum industry to obtain fuel allocations from the company illegally. Dan Malam said the decision to issue the warning was taken during a meeting between the NNPCL management and the leadership of IPMAN.

He warned that any marketer found allowing individuals to use their registered filling stations to get fuel allocations and later resell the products to others risked having their bulk purchase license revoked. He also urged private depot owners and fuel marketers to sell the product at the government-approved price, as those found selling above the approved price will be sanctioned.

Dan-Malam commended the management of the NNPCL under the leadership of Mele Kyari for ensuring an adequate supply of the products and reiterated that IPMAN would not tolerate fraudulent activities that could undermine the genuine fuel marketers in the country
