A coalition of citizens groups in Kano has submitted a position paper on the Kano State Mutual Accountability Framework (KanMAF) to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) gubernatorial transition committee (GTC) for 2023. The non-partisan, non-profit-making civil society organizations, along with prominent community influencers, worked together with support from PERL-FCDO to collate a document aimed at ensuring sustainable development in the state.

The KanMAF framework covers three thematic areas, including Human Development & Demography (Health & Education), Sustainable Economic Transformation, Core-Governance, and Social Protection. The position paper was presented to Dr. Aminu Magashi, the health gubernatorial transition subcommittee, Abdullahi Musa, the secretary of GTC, and Ado Ali Doguwa, a member of the development partners committee.

Upon receiving the position paper, members of the NNPP GTC 2023 reaffirmed their commitment to providing all necessary cooperation to achieve the desired objectives. KanMAF was established earlier to reaffirm the joint commitment and continued cooperation between the Kano State Government and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office – FCDO Nigeria.

The framework operates with a Joint Mechanism to monitor the Implementation and Performance of KanMAF on a monthly basis, to be co-chaired by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Planning and Budget and FCDO Regional Coordinator
