Nigerian National League One Set to Kick Off in Kano

The Nigerian National League One is set to commence on May 3rd, 2023, in Kano, according to Abdulgaffar Oladimeji, the league’s national media officer. Speaking to journalists in Kano on Saturday, Oladimeji assured the public that preparations are in top gear to inaugurate the opening game.

He revealed that the league’s secretariat is well-prepared to televise live broadcasts of the game, where important dignitaries from across the country will be in attendance. Sixteen clubs will participate in the league, with matches to be played at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar Mata and Kano Pillars Stadium in Sabongari, both in Kano.

In addition, the Ahmadu Bello University stadium located within the university campus will be used in Kaduna state, while the Pantami Stadium will be used in Gombe, the Sokoto Giginya Memorial Stadium, and the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium will be used in Bauchi.

President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kano branch, Zaharaddin Sale, has assured Oladimeji of the cooperation of sports journalists in Kano for the success of the league. Oladimeji, who is a veteran journalist, announced that from now on, every football club in Kano must have a media officer, as the media is the mirror of sports.

As part of preparations, media officers of all football clubs will undergo a capacity-building workshop on May 2nd, one day before the league’s commencement. According to NIGERIAN TRACKER, the Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Kano State council, Comrade Abba Murtala, expressed gratitude on behalf of the journalist family in Kano and beyond for Oladimeji’s appointment as the media officer, emphasizing that Oladimeji’s success is also theirs.
