The Kano council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists celebrated the Eid el Fitr with the Muslim community, emphasizing the importance of love, sacrifice, peace, and brotherhood as the country embraces a new democratic dispensation. The council expressed appreciation to various stakeholders, including journalists, security agencies, civil society organizations, and the electorate, for their role in the just concluded elections in the state and the country at large.
The NUJ called on elected leaders to prioritize people-oriented programs that will address the economic, social, and political challenges facing the country. It also urged media practitioners to adhere to their professional ethics in the discharge of their duties. Additionally, the council stressed the need for citizens to remain extra vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
As the Union felicitated with the incoming and outgoing administrations in the state, it prayed for a hitch-free Eid el Fitr celebration and a prosperous rainy season.
