There seems to be obvious disquiet with the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission over the decision of the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam to arrange for a pilgrimage in December.
Some State chapters of the Commission have kicked over this decision, particularly the fee of N1.5 million being charged per pilgrim for the pilgrimage, particularly against the backdrop of the pilgrims bitter experience last month in Rome.
According to sources close some states, last month, pilgrims were abandoned by the Executive Secretary in Rome for 22 hours, where they were shabbily treated, a situation that irked the Secretary to the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, who expressed his displeasure with the incompetence of the Executive Secretary.
Some of the state chapters are even claiming that the December pilgrimage was a unilateral decision of Rev. Pam and not that of the Board, wondering why the Executive Secretary was running the Commission like a sole administrator.
Some of the states are now calling on the Board of the Commission to step in and save pilgrims from this seeming exploitation.
