Kano N245bn Appropriation Bill scales through second reading

The N245 billion Kano appropriation bill for 2023 on Tuesday scaled through second reading at the State House of Assembly.

The Leader of the assembly, Labaran Madari (APC-Warawa) moved the motion for consideration of the bill for second reading at plenary in Kano.

The motion was seconded by Hayatu Musa(APC -Kura/Garun-Malam).
The bill passed the second reading, after deliberations on its benefits and general principles.

The Speaker, Alhaji Hamisu Chidari, referred the bill to the House Committee on Appropriation for in-depth study and urged the committee to report back to the house on December 13, 2022 for further action.

The committee was given one week to report back to the house.

Our correspondent reports that Gov Abdullahi Ganduje had on Nov. 4 presented a budget estimate of N 245 billion to the assembly for consideration.

The budget was tagged “Budget of consolidation and prosperity II.”

The budget was made up of N144 billion capital expenditure, representing 59 per cent and N100 billion recurrent expenditure, representing 41 per cent.

Similarly, the Bill to upgrade Abubakar Rimi college of education to university of education has also passed second reading.
