Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Zamfara state council, has been plugged by political thugs.
The hostility started when the chairman comrade Ibrahim Musa Mai Zare tries to stop the thugs from erecting some projects in front of some shops belonging to NUJ rented to All Progressive Congress APC to use as campaign office.
Reacting on the matter, NUJ secretary Malam Ibrahim Gada said they called police to intervene but the thugs openly told police that no body can stop them from living in the shops and that they are ready to deal with or even kill any journalist that try to send them away from the shops.
According to him, the incident is disheartening and shows that the integrity and lives of Journalists in Zamfara state are at risk, and that they can’t work under this threat.
Malam Ibrahim Gada therefore called on all stakeholders including security agencies, Human right activists and other nongovernmental organizations to come to their aid.
