Oyebanji Takes Charge As Ekiti State Governor

Governor Oyebanji of Ekiti State

Mr Abiodun Oyebanji, the new governor of Ekiti State, has taken the oath of office.

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, Oyebanji was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, to applause from the audience.

He succeeded Governor Kayode Fayemi, who also served as chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum.

During the oath-taking ceremony, Oyebanji pledged to preserve, protect, and defend the office of governor in the presence of the vast Ekiti people.

Ekiti State was among the Nigerian states whose calenders was disrupted following the 2007 general elections which believed to have been massively rigged by the Independent National electoral commission led by a Professor of Pharmacy Maurice Iwu.

Election Tribunals between late 2007 and 2010 installed many Governors which was upheld by the appellate courts and Supreme Court.

The states are Ekiti,Anambra,Osun,Bayelsa ,Kogi,Ondo .
