<p>The coalition of social protection Civil Society Organizations in Jigawa state has asked political parties and candidates to consider social protection as a top priority in their campaigns and manifestos as a better tool to end poverty in the state ahead of the 2023 General elections.</p>
<p>Chairman Jigawa Social Protection Platform(JISOP) Shu&#8217;aibu Musa Kafin-Gana stated this at lunching of the social protection campaign held in Dutse, the state capital.</p><div class="UZi9c1nJ" style="clear:both;float:left;width:100%;margin:0 0 20px 0;"><script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

<p>&#8220;While in Jigawa state, 87.02% of people living in the State are living in extreme poverty&#8221; he stated.</p>
<p>He said that the poverty level in the country especially the Northern region is the main cause of Nigeria&#8217;s problems, including kidnapping, cattle rustling, banditry, and other criminal activities.</p>
<p>Kafin-Gana explained that social protection is a set of policies and programs that are aimed at reducing and preventing poverty throughout the life cycle.</p>
<p>He noted that if well implemented all the current Nigeria&#8217;s problems would be solved.</p>
<p>&#8221; it will make a positive impact on Human Capital development, livelihood, risk management, economic resilience, social cohesion, economic reform and build trust in Governance&#8221; Kafin-Gana said.</p>
<p>He said the objectives of the campaign is to sensitize the political candidates and party officials to prioritize social protection in their pre and post-election campaign agenda and to strengthen the capacity of the electorates to demand social protection services as a right in the 2023 general election.</p>
<p>Also to support CSOs and citizens to hold winners of elections accountable for their campaign promises on social protection.</p>
