KNSG Promises Exploration Of Mineral Resources For Revenue Generation

The Kano State Government has pledged to commence exploration of huge deposit of mineral resources in the state.

To this end ,the state government assures to do everything possible to utilize the opportunities in the minerals resources industry for the best interest of the state.

The State Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Alhaji Adamu Abdu Fanda disclosed this during the visit of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in state.

The commissioner who was ably represented by Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Lawan Shehu Abdulwahab also stated that Kano state is blessed with abundant mineral resources which if utilized will certainly boost the economy and create wealth for the people of the state and Nigeria in general.

While maintaining that natural resources would make the state self dependent in terms of revenue generation and create employment opportunities to the teeming youth across the country.

The Commissioner therefore appealed to the stakeholders in the mining industries especially who secured mining licenses and were yet to commence operation to allow other prospectives miners to fully participate in businesses.

He also advised relevant agencies responsible for the allocation of mining licenses to revoke the licenses of those who have the permission but did not start explorations .

Earlier, The Commissioner representing Kano state in the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Barrister Faroik Umar Abdullahi revealed that the commission has begin a nation wide monitoring of revenue collection and activities of miners at the state and local government councils levels .

Barr.Abdullahi who was represented by Alhaji Tanimu Adamu Aliyu, director in the Commission also advised the state government to immediately establish a fordable committee that would in synergy rapid development of mining sector .

He noted the discovered during recent tours of huge and untapped mineral resources that includes gold ,asphalt and quarry in various areas that generate revenue and employment opportunities to the state .

In a statement by the ministry’s Chief information officer Bashir Habib Yahaya said the committee is established with the mandate to identify challenges, proper solutions and way forward in the mining sector in the state .
