The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, today continued his visit and consultations in Kano with an interactive session with different voluntary and support groups comprising, labour unions, teachers, traders unions and artisans, among others.

The pledge of loyalty and support to Atiku Abubakar’s candidacy came on the day members of the Buhari Supporter Organisation (BSO) who decamped to the PDP were received by the National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu in Kano.

Speaking in the same vein, Alh. Abubakar Kabir Babawo, the Director General of the Atiku Support Group, while eulogizing the sterling qualities of the PDP standard bearer, appreciated the PDP national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu for the morale-boosting event of bringing Ibrahim Shakarau back into the party’s fold.

In his response, the PDP presidential candidate thanked the groups for recognizing and identifying with him and the PDP. He stated that his mission in Kano is not to campaign but to receive Shakarau who has made the bold and right decision to rejoin the party.

He noted that the country had made mistakes in the past by wrong electoral choices but now has an opportunity to correct them by voting PDP. He promised that if the people voted the PDP, he would initiate far-reaching policies that would bring back industrial and commercial activities for which Kano is known for in the past.

Other speakers at the occasion included the PDP chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the Delta State governor and the running mate to Atiku, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Senator Dino Melaye and Senator Ibrahim Shakarau, among other party stalwarts.

In another development, the national chairman of the party, Dr Ayu on Tuesday received into the PDP fold members of the Buhari Support Organization in Kano who decamped to the Atiku Organization.

This was contained in a statement signed by AbdulRasheed Shehu, Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar, on Media and Broadcasting.
