Former Kano State Governor, and incumbent senator for Kano Central District, Ibrahim Shekarau has defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP.
Shekarau who defects to the PDP from New Nigeria Peoples’ Party NNPP announces his move in the presence of Presidential Candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa alongside bigwigs of the party
Daily News 24 reports that Shekarau left the NNPP for refusing to implement the terms of an agreement it reached with the group before its defection to the party in May.
While delivering his speech during his defection event at his resident, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau said: “I and my followers have today dump NNPP for PDP”.
Mr Abubakar’s entourage includes, former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, and a former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, and many other party bigwigs.
