Police in Jigawa state have foiled a kidnap attempt of a white man working at Tomatoes company in Birniwa Local Government area.
The spokesman of the command DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam disclosed this in a press statement issued to newsmen.
According to him the Gunmen numbering about 20 riding motorcycles attacked Sonia Food Tomatoes company in Birniwa town in an attempt to kidnap the White man.
“”8/8/2022 at about 0200hrs, some armed men numbering about twenty (20) on motorcycles attacked Sonia Food Tomatoes Company, located at Birniwa LGA, with intent to abduct white men attached to the company,” he said.
He explained that the kidnappers started shooting sporadically where they exchange fire with policemen on duty and they succeeded in foiling the kidnapping and run into the nearby bush.
This said a Preliminary investigation revealed that a body was Kidnapped in the company and no injury to any staff or the operatives.
He said normalcy was restored in the area and a rigorous patrol was intensified to forestall further attacks.
The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Aliyu Sale Tafida however commended the officers for the rapid response.
He also urged the public to always avail the Police with prompt information at right time.
