Bandits Killed Teenager At Ganin-Gari Community In Kaduna

Armed bandits numbering about 40 on 14 motorcycles, riding 3 on each, wielding sophisticated weapons, on Sunday 17th July, 2022 attacked Ganin-Gari community of Randagi Ward in the Western part of Birnin Gwari Local Area of Kaduna State.

The bandits were earlier sighted by locals around 2:00pm coming out from their hideouts through the southern axis of Kamuku forest passing through Kurgin Gabas, Tudun Wada, and Unguwan Danbaki of Kakangi Ward and going streight to Ganin Gari community where they attacked, killed two people, rustled cattle and kidnapped unspecified number of people.

On their way back to their hideouts, they killed a mad teenage boy who they came across on the road around Dawakin Bassa community.

However, on getting information about their movement back to their hideouts, a joint team of Mobile Policemen and Local Vigilantes were organized and stationed on the bandits’ usual route where they were ambushed successfully around Tudun Wada Bridge and all the kidnapped victims and rustled cattle were freed and 7 motorcycles including some of those snatched from locals were also retrieved. Unspecified number of bandits were also neutralized while many ran away barefooted with different degrees of injuries.

Some of the bandits that ran away slept in the surrounding bushes where the clash took place because of fear of further ambushed whereby on the following day, specically yesterday Monday 18th when running back to their hideouts, they killed another two locals at their farms bringing to total the number of locals killed to five.

Western part of Birnin-Gwari have being experiencing series of attacks from armed bandits whereby more than 30 communities were sacked some of which are currently being occupied by the same bandits.

This part of the Local Government Area comprised of two Wards; namely, Kakangi and Randagi. But in Kakangi Ward alone, more than 20 communities were sacked by these ragtag bandits which include Ganda, Katakaki, Biskin, Dakwaro, Mashigi, Ishiwai, Chikwakwa, Sabon-Wuri, Ginsa, Saye, Unguwan Ma’aji, Unguwan Sakin Fawa, Mayana, Unguwan Doshiro, Unfuwan Dangwari, Shiwaka, Marori, Madatai, Unguwan Shikau to mentioned but few.

The above mentioned sacked communities are in one Ward alone. Unfortunately, these bandits are currently occupying some of these (sacked) communities especially in Mashigi, Chikwakwa, Ganda and Sabon-Wuri.

In a statement issued by Chairman Birnin Gwari using Emirate progressive union Ishaq Usman Kasai commended the gallant Mobile policemen and Local vigilante members for their patriotic effort and urging Government for mobilization of more security personnel with adequate equipments in order to minimize the level criminal and terrorist activities in the area.
