The question of where is Malam Takai is wagging in the tongues of many electorates and individuals in Kano as all is set for the conduct of Gubernatorial election in Nigeria in 7 or 8 months to come.
Malam Salihu Sagir Takai was the Gubernatorial candidate of former Kano ruling party ANPP when his political mentor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau was about to complete his 8 year tenure as governor of Kano state in the year 2011.
Takai was then cruising to victory as the governor of Kano state when he was defeated by Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso with a slight margin of 40 thousand votes.
Finally, Takai cross-carpets to APC
Again in 2015 when his political master Malam Ibrahim Shekarau defects to PDP ,Alhaji Salihu Sagger Takai was anointed again by Malam Shekarau but due to the 2015 tsunami when Nigerians were calling for change ,luck run out from Takai ,the incumbent governor of Kano state Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje won the election through Buhari SAK factor and the popularity of Kwankwasiyya movement.
In 2019 Malam Salihu Takai defects to People’s Redemption Party and after falling out with his political mentor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau in which he was banking on his political dynasty ,Takai survive with only one hundred thousand votes.
A source who pleaded anonymity told NIGERIAN TRACKER that as the 2023 Gubernatorial election started to gather momentum the All Progressives congress bigwigs asked Malam Takai to contest for member of house of representatives from Takai /Sumaila federal constituency in which he silently declined the offer but pledged to support APC Gubernatorial candidate and incumbent Deputy Governor of Kano state Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.
Will Malam Salihu Sageer Takai joined the leagues of late Deputy Governor of Kano state Engineer Magaji Abdullahi who contested several times to become the governor of Kano state but couldn’t make it?
