Autocracy, money politics, and lack of internal democracy has been described as the root course of crises facing the ruling party All Progress Congress (APC) in the country.
A political scientist and lecturer at the Gombe State University, Dr. Abdulkadir Saleh stated this during a current affairs programme ‘Tumbin Giwa’ aired on Progress Radio and Television Gombe.
He said the history of the amalgamation of the APC was the major challenge, with people of different political ideologies.

Dr Saleh described APC as charismatic party because they relied on President Muhammadu Buhari’s popularity, which is the reason why they find themself in a crucial situation.
According to him uncertainty among the party members about the possibility of winning the election and internal Democracy is among the reason for the mass defection being face by the party, especially from the National Assembly.
When he was asked about the alleged “I don’t care attitude” of President Buhari on the happenings in the party, Dr. Saleh said the president was in a dilemma because of his attitude as a man of integrity who constantly want everything to go according to law and order.
He added that the President was inflexible and that is the reason he doesn’t put himself in the affairs of the party, “because his reputation will be tarnished.”
Dr. Abdulkadir Saleh also called on the electorates to vote for credible people irrespective of the political party he or they belong to.
