About 15000 Kano Candidates May Miss NECO Exams Over N 1.5 Billion Debt

The National Examination Council (NECO) threatens to prevent Kano State students from taking the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination due to the state government’s unpaid debt of N1.5 billion to the examination body.

No fewer than 15,000 students across the state are about to miss the examination that would commence on Monday, June 27, 2022.

A source in the state Ministry of Education while confirming that the council had notified the state government of its intention said that over N300 million was paid to the board last week.

According to the source, the examination organization demanded that the state government pay at least N700m before allowing its students to take the exam.

It could be recalled that the National Examination Council had withheld the 2021 NECO results for Kano students due to outstanding to the examination body
