<p>Report from Ungwan Mai-Lafiya Community in Bassa District of Kokona Local Government of Nasarawa State.</p>
<p>Yunusa Salisu Sallau is the District Head of Bassa under which the Ungwan Mai-Lafiya Community is.</p>
<p>Mallam Sallau expressed his displeasure with the manner in which the government has left the community unattended without even a single borehole, he further lamented the sandy nature of the environment which is not friendly for digging well, the community source of water is only a stream which people of the community must dig but not deep to get water for domestic uses. The people of the community are mostly farmers and rearers of pigs and they shared this source of water with these pigs.</p>

<p>Secretary-General of Youth Council of Bassa District, Mr. Danjuma Muhammad who also hails from Ungwan Mai-Lafiya Community expressed his disappointment that the government at all levels has let them down if they can&#8217;t provide them water for domestic uses, come to think of the other social amenities.</p>
<p>Mr. Danladi speaks on the role youths of the community are playing in ensuring they have a hygienic source of water, they are in a community where there are no economic activities apart from farming and rearing animals and most of the farmers are subsistence farmers, nevertheless, they are contributing from households to raise a reasonable amount of money to ensure they arrest the menace themselves because it&#8217;s the obvious government doesn&#8217;t know of their existence until during electioneering campaigns.</p>
