It is no secret that some personalities are born to serve as leaders.
Going by the theories of leadership, getting a charismatic and reliable leader is very rare especially at a time when nepotism, self enrichment, greediness, sycophant and lack of respect to the rule of law speaks volume.
However, despite the bottleneck, exceptional leaders distinguish themselves by their track records.
Some individuals could be opportuned to be in various positions of leadership and serve with exceptional qualities.
Interestingly, those born to be leaders can easily be recognized from various stages of their rising such as peer group, studentship and service career.
I have reason why I count my right friend in struggle comrade Abubakar Shehu Kwaru among those who I see as leaders with vision and mission in promoting the fortunes of people in what ever capacity.
Although, I met Kwaru for over a decade and become intimate friends and when I served as government house correspondent with freedom radio in 2012 and I was convinced to trace his records.
Abubakar Shehu Kwaru who was born at kofar kwaru in 1979 attended Islamic school even before he was enrolled at Kofar kudu special primary school, Emir’s Palace Kano between 1987- 1992 then proceeded to GJSS Sabuwar kofa.

Leaving GJSS Sabuwar kofa in 1995 to GSSS Sharada where he completed his secondary education in 1998.
College of Arts, Science and Remedial studies (CAS kano) for interim joint matriculation board examination served as a bridge to secure admission to study Bsc Political Science at Bayero university, Kano in 2001/2002 academic session.
Kwaru, answered the clarion call and served his father’s land at Olorunsogo local government (igbeti) in Oyo State between 2008/2009.
I learnt from his service mates Bashir Argungu of Kebbi State and Tijjani Abubakar Kano, that kwaru was generous and good to all and then appointed as welfare ll of the Muslim corpers Association of Nigeria (MCAN) Oyo state chapter.
After passing out parade, Abubakar stayed for additional two days, as the principal of the Muslim High community School Alhaji Ibrahim Ajimobi informed him that the school authority and the parent teachers association decided to honor him alone in appreciation to what he did to their children.
Kwaru served as voluntary teacher to GGASSS Hasiya Bayero for six years (2004-2010).
The career of Abubakar shehu kwaru started with Kano State Television corporation now Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) in 2010 as information officer I.
The young leader, distinguished himself on various responsibilities he might assigned to do so by his principals as some of them confessed.
Amog his schedule of work includes News reporting, translator, caster of both Hausa and English bulletin, compiling special reports and sports and many more.
Abubakar, won Best Reporter on the year of ARTV in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2021.
He was the only staff of news selected and posted to the newly established planning, Research and statistics Department under the leadership of a veteran journalist Abdullahi Abubakar ungogo for the take off of the section.
Politically, Kwaru elected as financial Secretary of the Nigeria union of journalists (NUJ) for three years, and exhausted six years (two term) as Secretary and presently mandated him by the teeming members through election to rule the union at chapel level.
Being a versatile reporter, Abubakar shehu Kwaru was elected as financial secretary of the state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) after a successful tenure, gave way to colleague, and the new Exco coopted the dedicated member as Ex-officio.
The celebrant was chaired the committee of organising the tenth edition of football competition among media organizations in Kano (2021-2022).
I can recalled our stay at government house between 2012-2018, we used to call kwaru as ‘Executive Vice Chairman’ of the press crew due to his confidence and ability to led us in solving problems.p
Kwaru presently is a reporter attached to Kano Emirate for over two years and his selfless service paved the way for his recent award ( Best reporter of the Year, 2021).
Kwaru is presently occupying various positions outside such as the chairman of Kofar Kudu special primary school old pupils Association (Natonal body), chairman brotherhood forum and many more.
Despite challenges being encountered by my friend in the process of attaining to greatness , he will not hesitate or jeopardize in actualising his mission and vision.
Abubakar shehu kwaru, more grease to your elbow, don’t ever give off as life is full of challenges, face it and God will guide you now and always.
As its today Kwaru has slugged it out during the ARTV chapel election where he defeated Rabiu Aboki Anas with 24 votes to two.
Kwaru’s political prowess within the NUJ chapel as a young chap is second to non and has finally emerge the chapel chairman of the pioneer Television station owned by Kano state government.
A TV station that groomed veteran and internationally acclaimed journalists who excelled in their career not only in Kano Nigeria but in the UK and other countries.
