Former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and Chairman ,House Committee on Pension, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, has announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to our findings, Rurum, a gubernatorial aspirant in APC, was not satisfied with the decision of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to anoint his Deputy, Nasiru Gawuna, as his successor and Murtala Sule Garo as his running mate, ahead of the upcoming primary elections of the ruling party.

This anointing was according to findings carried out in a meeting at Kano state Government House on Saturday night.

The action according to the former Speaker was unfair not only to him but to the Kano South Senatorial District that has not produced a governor or deputy since 1992.

It was exclusively gathered that he will be announcing his new party in few days after consultation with members of his campaign directorate and political associates.

Kabiru Alhasan Rurum was speaker Kano state house of assembly when Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje sent a bill seeking the creation of additional Emirates in Kano and on May 8 2019 the house presided over by him created the Emirates .
