Police in Kano are planning to arrest a famous critic and political affairs commentator, Bashir Gentile, for criticizing the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, on local radio programmes, DAILY NIGERIAN has reliably gathered.
Mr Gentile, an associate of a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau, is also an aide to President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan.
Many critics of the governor have recently faced persecution, police intimidation and kangaroo trial before some corrupt judges in the state.
Sources said after attempts to arrest Mr Gentile failed, the police now invited him for questioning over a petition against him.

When contacted for comment, spokesperson of the command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, said he is not aware of the invitation or plan to arrest him.
Mr Kiyawa, a superintendent of police, however said he would make further findings on the matter.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the current government is notorious in clamping down on oppositions in the state.
In January, Muaz Magaji, another critic of Mr Ganduje, was arrested after police crashed into his vehicle in Abuja. He was immediately taken to Kano and charged with criminal defamation.
Another fierce critic of Mr Ganduje, Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, is currently remanded in prison custody after failure to meet stringent bail conditions.
The duo of Kwamanda and Magaji was arrested and taken to Magistrate Court 58, under Aminu Gabari, who known for doing the bidding of Mr Ganduje and his family.
