A Kaduna State High Court sitting in Zaria has vacated its order restricting Bello Hayatu Gwarzo from participating in the North West zonal congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

On February 9, Justice K. Dabo barred Mr Gwarzo, one of the two contestants of the PDP zonal chairmanship congress, from participating in all party affairs pending the determination of the motion on notice.

Mr Gwarzo, who was suspended by the party in Kano, is contesting for the North West zonal chairmanship alongside Mohammed Jamo, who is backed by a former governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

But upon hearing of oral addresses on issues of jurisdiction made by counsels for the plaintiff and the defendants on February 28, the court vacated its earlier order.

“The ex-parte order made on 9/2/2022 granted without jurisdiction hence struck out.

“The High Court lacks jurisdiction to hear and determine the originating summons filed by the plaintiff, suit therefore struck out,” the order, dated March 3, 2022, read.

Reports Indicate that the leadership of the party had on February 10 suspended the congress to avoid the emergence of Mr Kwankwaso’s candidate, Mohammed Jamu, unopposed.

The former governor is planning to defect to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, and contest for president.
