Governor Ganduje Directs Drilling Of Borehole At Alma Mater

Kano state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has directed that, an immediate and adequate geological Survey be conducted with a view to ascertain appropriate location for the drilling of an Industrial borehole in the premises, Government Unity College, Birninkudu, Jigawa state so as to achieve a sustainable water source.

The Governor who attended the College from 1964-1968 expressed worry over the perennial water scarcity facing the College Community which has been adversely affecting the academic activities in the institution.

He also directed that, possibility of sourcing water from Birninkudu Water station to the college be considered as well, so as to ensure comprehensive, integrated and sustainable sources of portable water supply to the college.

Former Jigawa Chief Judge Appreciates BIKOBA Leadership Style

Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje gave the directive when receiving members of the Executive committee of Birnin Kudu Old Boys Association (BIKOBA) who were at the Government House, Kano on Courtesy visit to the Governor.

The Governor who recalled his school days in the College with nostalgia said, it is time for all BIKOBANs, especially those that are privileged to occupy positions to pay back, so that, the college would continue to be a Center of excellence in terms of academic performance.

Former Jigawa state Governor and one of the Patrons of BIKOBA, Alhaji Sule Lamido who led the v delegation alongside the BIKOBA President, described school relations as one of the most important childhood relationship that defines the character of students and their conduct as a family and beyond.

He noted that, the College is a common heritage of any BIKOBANs, stressing the need for all Birninkudu Alumnus to save the future generation from failure by way of supporting the college and its students, so that they would grow from strength to strength, in terms of both learning and character.

In a statement by National publicity secretary Mahmud Ibrahim Kwari said the President of BIKOBA, Alhaji Ja’afar Usman Muhammad (Turakin Gaya) appreciated the kind gestures of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to BIKOBA, adding that, the Governor has been one of the few key pillars of the Association.
