Historians proved that even before the Fulani Jihad led by Sheikh Usman Bin Fodio the last Kano Emir from Kutumbawa Dynasty Aliyu Yaji worked hard for the spread of Islam in Kano and done away with bad deeds.

Emir Aliyu Yaji also fought an old tradition associated with Kano people “Dirki”

Dirki is a huge refuse dump close to Kano central Mosque where Kano people dumped skins after slaughtering rams during Edil Kabir

They also turned the place ‘Dirki” as a sorcery spot which they believe if they pray its automatically answered.

Emir Aliyu Yaji fought this kind of superstition and sorcery and ordered the destruction of the place which also uplift the true teachings of Islam.

NIGERIAN TRACKER also learnt that many Kutumbawa regards Sheikh Danfodio’s Jihad as a mere coup than reforming Islam because the Emirs from the Kutumbawa Dynasty are also Muslims.
