11 months after arrest, families of Sokoto civil servant cry out, seek justice

Families of Sokoto state civil servant, Ladan Ibrahim arrested for allege terrorism financing alongside the 45 Bureau De Change operators in Kano has called on authorities concerned to speed up action in order to ensure justice.

After report on the agrieved family members of the Kano Bureau De Change operators who were invited by the DSS operatives 11 months ago, the Sokoto family reached out to register their grievances.

The family members, including 4 wives and 16 children said ever since the invitation and subsequent arrest of their breadwinner, their life has never been the same as he’s the only hope taking care of them and also his relatives.

Speaking via phone on behalf of the entire family members, one of the wives, Habiba Ibrahim Ladan said the level of hardship they are currently experiencing is taking a toll on them.

“I am the fourth wive reaching out on behalf of my co-wives; A’i Ladan Ibrahim, Fatima Ladan Ibrahim, Uwani Ladan Ibrahim, our 16 children and his entire members of his extended families.

“We have and are currently experiencing abject hardship since he left, I and the first wife are not in good health. I go to hospital every month while she went every week which stopped since his departure.

“Our children have stopped going to school. Even what to eat is a problem to us. He’s the head of the family who supports both his immediate and extended family.

“We are really suffering, let him be taken to Court, charge him on what they are accusing him of. At least, we know that justice is done to him and to us.”

Ladan Ibrahim formally works with the state pilgrims welfare board and now with Ministry for higher education in Sokoto state.

He was among the 45 BDC operators listed for allege facilitation of terrorism linked to Boko Haram 11 months ago invited by the DSS and now allegedly under the custody of the DIA in Abuja.
