SACA Sensitizes Tertiary Students On The Importance Of Pre-Marital Screening

Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS SACA has sensitised students of Sa’adatu Rimi College of education on the impact of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis and the importance of premarital screening held at the college conference hall.

The lecture was organised by the Agency to increase HIV/AIDS and Viral Hepatitis prevention awareness among young Adolescents being the most vulnerable group.

The Director-General of the Agency, Dr. Sabitu Y. Shu’aibu Shanono said the Agency was committed to achieving the United Nations targets by ending the new infection of two viruses in 2030.

Dr.Sabitu Shanono said the Agency prioritises the issue of discouraging stigma and discrimination and encourage premarital screening before solemnization and attendant of the antenatal clinic for the prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS.

The Director-General who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Prevention Care and Treatment, Dr. Sa’adatu Sale charged the students to extend the vital information they acquired to their peers, family and community.

Earlier, the Deputy provost Admin of the College, Dr. Muswalu Bello expresses delight with lectures as the college has a large number of youth that comes from 44 local governments of the state.

Dr. Muswalu Bello express that the issue of premarital screening is timely because there are a lot of diseases that can’t be seen on the face unless through clinical investigation.
