Dr Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi ,a Kaduna based Islamic scholar said religious bodies have now turned into campaign pulpits instead of teaching religion and preaching the religion of Allah.
Dr Ahmad Abubakar Gumi made the statement during one of his preaching sessions at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna.
According to the cleric who is seen as controversial said some Islamic scholars in Nigeria are now addicted to money from politicians which prevent them from telling the truth to power and teaching the ignorant the religion of Allah.

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi said in a situation where you find Fulani bandits that cannot recite the first chapter of the Glorious Qur’an,the Suratul Fatiha,and you abandoned that responsibility of giving them Islamic education and went to politicians to give you money for campaign will not yield positive result for Nigeria and the Muslim community.
Dr Gumi a soldier cum Islamic scholar said if issues like that are not addressed banditry will not end if you refuse to educate bandits.
The sheikh chastised some section of Islamic scholars who went to politicians to collect money and promised to campaign for them during elections.
