Boat Accident: 7 Girls Die In Jigawa

No fewer than seven girls have died after canoe capsized at Gasanya village in Kafin Hausa local Government area of Jigawa.

A resident told NIGERIAN TRACKER that the incident happened on Friday when some girls numbering about ten boarded a boat to unknown destination.

He said on the process the boat capsized and all of the occupants died and were evacuated.

Police Public officer in Jigawa state ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen.

He said the incident occurred On 19/11/21 at about 0015hrs when the victims were said to be on a haste and anxiety to reach home, they therefore decided to drive a boat parked at River at Gasanya village by themselves in the absence of Craftman.

Shiisu said on the process the canoe capsized with Girls numbering about ten (10), three (3) were rescued while seven (7) others dead.

He explained that all the girls aged ranging from 10, 11, and 12 year old respectively came from Gafasa village through K/Hausa LGA to Gasanya village in Auyo LGA for Maulud Celebration.

Shiisu said the victims were evacuated and referred to General Hospital Kafin Hausa F.N.A and confirmed dead by Medical Doctor.
