As the 2023 general elections draw nearer and with politicians from all walks of life trying their best to enter Kano state government House, the people of Kano should immediately start strategizing and separate the chaff from the grain.

Former Freedom Radio Journalist Elected Councillor
Nigeria’s democracy is maturing by the day and Kano being the citadel and bastion of Nigeria’s politicking from the days of NEPU, the state has never had it so bad until the present administration came to power on May 29 2015.

As a political analyst people may ask why Iam packaging a candidate to Kano electorate who was part of the very government that retarded the progress of Kano, I may say several reasons abound, Muhuyi is his own man since he started the struggle in enforcing good governance from his days as a freedom fighter in Kano state.

Available evidence has shown that Kano Governors that performed creditably well served the state during their Youthful ages and Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado has fitted into that category if Kano people voted wisely and elect him as their Governor come 2023.

The best performing Governors in its history were late Alhaji Audu Bako who became the Governor at the age of 44,Late Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Rimi at the age of 39, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at the age of 43 and Malam Ibrahim Shekarau at the age of 48 who is even more older than the rest.

Till this day no one match the records of these governors while the much celebrated anti corruption Czar, Malam Muhuyi Magaji is in his early forty’s and his achievements have spoken for themselves and will continue to speak for themselves.

Apart from the system we are operating in Nigeria, honesty and commitment is one of the best qualities that sells a public officer in Nigeria, without casting aspersion on the mind of the reader, by the time Nigeria returns to Democracy in 1999,the only Anti corruption Czar that drew the attention of the world to Nigeria is the Youthful Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

Every student of history knew very that Malam Nuhu Ribadu has never compromise his stance in ridding Nigeria of corruption and was quickly kicked out of the system that made him because they fear the consequences.

The same trend followed by the former chairman of Kano state Anti corruption commission Malam Muhuyi Magaji,he never compromise the independence of the commission and was trying to tidy up Kano from corruption and corrupt practices when the powers that made him like Nuhu Ribadu feared the consequences of their action and kicked out Muhuyi Magaji without recourse to due process.

Students of comparative politics will definitely believe that the two national anti corruption Czars of Malam Nuhu Ribadu and Muhuyi Magaji shared the same character and characteristics, the same manner and mannerisms so also the same vigor in fighting corruption.

The reason why the above issues were narrated is that most populous state like Kano needs energetic young man with vigor and who is free from corruption to mount the saddle of governance so that the state will be saved from the clutches of maladministration it was subjected to in the almost 7 years of the APC government.

The asset in Muhuyi Magaji is incomparable to the rest of the aspirants in APC and PDP who want succeed Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in 2023.

The higher, middle and lower class are very much conversant with how the former Chairman fought for their right when looters and corrupt individuals looted their money, whenever the case is brought before the state’s anti- corruption boss without wasting time the billions or a single Naira looted are recovered and returned to their owners.

We don’t need to mention names, if it is in advanced democracy those aspiring to rule Kano in 2023 from the APC will be campaigning on their own right not following the governor to anoint any of them because they know pretty well that the administration has committed several blows interms of healthcare provision, infrastructure, water supply and electricity as the streets of Kano are becoming darker by the day.
