A member of the Northern elders forum Ambassador and President Arewa concerned citizens forum Rufai Mukhtar Danmaje has charged the legislature to make laws that will protect herders in the country.
Ambassador Rufai Mukhtar Danmaje stated this in an interactive session with newsmen in Kano.
Rufai Danmaje said herdsmen are contributing immensely to the Nigerian economy and persecuting them is not the way out for the present quagmire.
He said in a situation whereby the federal government can create a ministry of the Niger Delta affairs catering for herders became necessary as they too contribute to the Nigerian economy.
The federal government should camp herdsmen and create a situation whereby herdsmen will have a grazing reserve for the benefit of all.
The senate should not in anyway allow good legislation on herds men to be frustrated by any individual or group of people so that Nigeria will continue to prosper .
As every sector in Nigeria is contributing to the economy so also the herdsmen as Nigerians.
