APC holds parallel congress in Kano as Ahmadu Zago emerges Chairman

The crisis bedeviling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano is yet to be over as Parallel state congresses are currently holding in the state.

The  Governor Abdullahi Ganduje led faction is currently holding its congress at Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, while the faction led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau , Senator Barau Jibrin, Rep. members, Sha’aban Sharada,Tijjani  Abdulkadri Jobe, Haruna Dederi and others  held their own at  Janguza town , in Tofa Local Government Area , along Gwarzo road.

Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje had endorsed Abdullahi Abbas to return as the party chairman amid outcry by some party supporters.

Reports indicate that Gov. Ganduje while speaking at the stadium, on Saturday, declared that any other meeting elsewhere is illegal, insisting that the venue of the Congress, Sani Abacha Indoor Sports Hall was the only placed recognized by the party’s national headquarters and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The governor, who declared all those that are against his leadership of the party in the state as “disgruntled elements”, led delegates from his local government, Dawakin Tofa, to kickstart the voting process.

Although the Shekarau-led congress was suppose to hold at Sani Abacha Youth Centre but security agents shut the premises refusing to allow anybody into the premises and the supporters were later dispersed by thugs and tear gas by police.

 

The members of the All Progressives Congress loyal to Senator Ibrahim Shekrau  later conducted their congress and elected Ahmadu Haruna Zago as Chairman of the party in Kano.

The congress had in attendance member representing Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Rimingado in the House of Representatives Tijjani Abdulkadri Jobe , Alhaji Shehu Dalhatu, Chairman Buhari Support Organisation and  other stakeholders from the 44 local government area.

 

In his acceptance speech, Haruna Zago  promised to carry all members along and work towards the party success in the 2023 elections.

Similarly,  a chairmanship aspirant of the party who withdraw his ambition to support Ahamadu Haruna zago,  Sharif Baban Lungu said the unity and success of the party were part of the reasons for his withdrawal .

 

He assured members that this is the right leadership for members of APC in Kano.

However as at the time of filing this report the parallel congress of APC at the Sani Abacha Stadium is on-going.
