<p>Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has called on his colleagues, governors of all states in the federation to concentrate more in making moves that can unite the country, instead of making public, contrary and uncomplimentary comments about the future of democracy in the country.</p>
<p>He made the call in his speech at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, Friday, at Independence Day celebration, urging them to always put Nigeria first before any other consideration.</p><div class="yX4VwG9k" style="clear:both;float:left;width:100%;margin:0 0 20px 0;"><script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>

<p>&#8220;A situation whereby governors on one region will talk uncomplimentary remarks to governors from other side of the country, is not a civilised way of dealing with issues at hand,&#8221; he cautioned.</p>

<p>According to him &#8220;Some of those issues raised are political parties issues, that can be resolved by our various parties. I also understand that, this issue of political dichotomy is that of power shift.&#8221;</p>
<p>Explaining further that, &#8220;It has been a tradition in the country to have zoning. Which is a strategy by political parties. Each party has it&#8217;s own strategy to win elections. And in each of such strategies the Constitution is not affected.&#8221;</p>

<p>While urging that such issues should be left to varying political parties, he pleaded that, &#8220;This dichotomy will not take us anywhere, so long as we want stay together as one indivisible and united Nigeria.</p>
<p>I am therefore calling on the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, to call the attention of our Governors to strive hard for the unity of the country,&#8221; he pleaded.</p>
<p>Adding that, &#8220;Governor Fayemi should call all governors for a meeting and urge us to apologise to each other. We should leave this matter to our political parties.&#8221;</p>
<p>In a statement by Abba Anwar Governors chief press secretary which was obtained by the NIGERIAN TRACKER Governor Ganduje maintained that, the recent statements and counter-statements between governors was unfortunate and totally uncalled for.</p>
