Ex Internationals, celebrities join Former Eagles Captain, Kanu to commemorate World Heart Day

Former Super Eagles captain and  Arsenal legend, Nwankwo Kanu led ex Internationals,  celebrities from the entertainment industry, and thousands of people on Wednesday in Abuja to walk 7.2 km to commemorate World Heart’s Day.

 

 

The walking exercise started from Bullet Garden and ended at Unity Fountain Garden near Transcorp Hilton Hotel in the nation’s capital.

 

The theme for this year was titled “Walk with Nwankwo Kanu to make the heartbeat. ”

This was part of the efforts of the former U23 captain and Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medalist to create more awareness on different heart-related diseases.

 

The World Health Organisation, WHO has set aside 29th September annually to celebrate World Heart’s Day.

 

Kanu was joined by his former teammates, Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, and Emmanuel Babayaro, and host of A-list celebrities from the entertainment industry including Junior Pope and  Ayodeji Richard Makun popular known as AY.

 

The Kanu Heart Foundation was founded in the year 2000 by the former Ajax of Holland’s frontman to provide help for less privileged who can’t afford surgery and suffering from different heart-related problems.
