<p>The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has warned corps members against participation in host communities&#8217; politics.</p>

<p>Shuaibu gave the advice on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the 2021 Batch B stream II orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kusalla, Karaye local government.</p>

<p> ;</p>
<p>“<a href="https://www.civicplus.com/blog/ce/what-does-civic-engagement-mean-for-local-government">Do remember that engagement in local politics</a> of host communities is a no-go-area for you. In all circumstances, always be conscious of the implications of your action or inaction,’’ he added.</p>

<p>Shuaibu who is represented by the Kano State Coordinator of NYSC, Hajiya Aisha Tata, also urged them to eschew drug abuse, trafficking, cybercrime, advanced fee fraud, and other criminal activities during their service year.</p>

<p>The NYSC boss further enjoined them against unauthorized journeys and night trips.</p>

<p>“Statistics by relevant agencies has shown that night travels pose a major risk factor for road traffic accident and menace,’’ he explained.</p>

<p>The Director-General admonished the corps members to respect the culture and values as well as to contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities.</p>

<p>Shuaibu commended the corps members for complying with the COVID 19 prevention protocols during their stay in camp.</p>

<p>He also called on them to adhere strictly to all COVID-19 protocols to stem the spread of the pandemic.</p>

<p>The NYSC boss then appealed to employers not to only accept corps members that would be posted to them, but also to provide the enabling environment for them to develop their potentials.</p>

<p>The Director-General then commended the Federal Government for its unwavering support for the scheme and the efforts of NCDC, NACA, and other stakeholders.</p>
