The manufacturers association of Nigeria said as at present only 200 Kano Industries are operating at half capacity in the past 18 years when lack of adequate electricity hit one of the industrial hubs of Northern Nigeria.
The chairman manufacturers association of Nigeria Kano Jigawa Branch Malam Sani Husseini stated this in an exclusive interview with the NIGERIAN TRACKER.

Malam Sani Hussinei said due to the high electricity Tariffs being charged by Kano Electricity Distribution Company without adequate power many industries in Kano are operating at sixty percent, unlike the needed 100 percent.
In the early ’80s, ’90s and 20’s Kano has a cluster of industries at Challawa, Sharada, Bompai, and Panshekara where Nigerians come from all walks of life to reside in the city and work in the industries.
But the majority of Kano industries are locating to Lagos and other southern states due to unfavourable Government policies in 1999 till the present time.
With the continued closure of industries in Kano, many youths in the state are now redundant and cannot go and fend for themselves resulting in minor and major offences including phone snatching
