The National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic studies are holding their 38th annual conference at Musa Abdullahi Auditorium Bayero University in Kano North-western Nigeria.
The three-day conference with the theme pandemic and national security in Arabic and Islamic studies will feature prominent academics for three days to brainstorm on issues of security and pandemic in Arabic and Islamic studies perspectives.
Declaring the conference open the national president of the association professor Sani Umar Musa told the participants that they intended to hold the 38th conference since last year but due to the corona pandemic the association cannot be able to do so.
Prof Sani said in his stewardship as the chairman of the association they have increased its numerical strength by adding more than 700 members and were able to resuscitate branches in Zamfara, Plateau, Bauchi, and other states.
A book in honor of the chief Imam of Kano Professor Sani Zahraddin was presented which shows a compendium of scholarly articles on Arabic and Islamic studies.
On his part the sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar represented by the Emir of Karaye Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar the 3rd charges NATAIS to intensify in praying for the nation at the time of Corona Virus and security challenges.
On his part, the Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero represented by Alhaji Aliyu Harazimi said NATAIS should use Islamic and Arabic knowledge in addressing insurgency and Boko Haram bad ideology among the youth.

While launching the Book in honor of Professor Muhammad Sani Zahraddin a prominent member of NATAIS and Registrar Joint Admissions and matriculation board Professor Ishaq Oloyede encouraged members to buy the book to really honor their teacher Professor Emeritus Muhammad Sani Zahraddin.
He went around the gathering himself and sold the book each at 2000 Naira to interested members who gathered for the NATAIS conference.
Professor Ishaq Oloyede further purchased 500 copies of the book in honor of professor Emeritus Sani Zahraddin at 1 million Naira for distribution to schools across Nigeria.
He also purchased some copies on behalf of the former governor of Kano State Malam Ibrahim Shekarau at 500 thousand Naira.
