Federal Govt Tasks State Governments on National Policy On Medical Oxygen

The Federal Government has tasked State Governments on the need to domesticate the national policy on medical Oxygen in health facilities.

Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire made the call at a stakeholders consultative workshop for the adoption of national policy on medical Oxygen in health facilities held at Manpower Development Institute, Dutse, Jigawa State.

The minister who was represented by the by Oxygen desk officer, department of hospital services, ministry of health, Mr. Bishara Emanuel Bennett, said the federal government attached much importance to the policy aim at improving and wide spread of quality have services in the country.

Dr Osagie maintained that adoption and implementation of the policy will help in providing solutions to most of medical challenges in the both federal and states health facilities.

“Adopting the policy in our health facilities will help in addressing most of respiratory complications especially the current situation of Covid-19 pandemic and the major children killer disease pneumonia”he said.

He however commended Jigawa state as the first in the country making efforts to domesticate the policy in it’s Health facilities.

Chief of party Integrated Sustainable Childhood Pneumonia and other Infection Diseases Reduction in Nigeria (INSPIRING) project in Jigawa state, Dr Isah Adamu said the project is under Save the Children International in support GlaxoSmithKline organized the workshop to facilitate the demostication and adoption the policy.
