Jigawa Court Sentences 3 For Production Of Fake Fertilizer

A mobile court in Jigawa State on Friday sentenced three men to six months imprisonment for production and selling of adulterated fertilizer and agrochemicals in the state.

 

State chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, Alhaji Farouk Abdallah Mallam Madori, disclosed this to newsmen.

 

He said the committee had succeeded in arresting three people who have been selling fake fertilizer and agrochemicals in order to maximize profits.

 

The chairman explained that two people, Musa Adamu Dugudi and Haruna Abubakar Duriya, were arrested at Guri market with the adulterated fertilizer.

 

He said another person Bala Lawan was also arrested selling fake agrochemicals at the Hadejia market.

He said those arrested have confessed to have committed the offense and the items were confiscated.

 

He said the presiding Judge, Justice Munnir Sarki Jahun, therefore sentenced them to six months imprisonment with an option of an N60,000 fine.

 

The Chairman urged the people of the state to report anybody suspected to have compromised the quality of foods, drinks, fertilizer, and other agrochemicals.
