Just like yesterday while I was laying on the cushion, scrolling through my messages on Whatsapp, I came across the shocking news of the demise of a Quintessential being called, Usman Gezawa.

Usman Gezawa, though critically physically challenged was a role model to many, right from His secondary school days up to His final stages in the University. His ability to achieve the undisputed 5.00 CGPA (in a 5 point grade level) each and every semester that passes by is what many are still yet to understand. ‘How’, queried by many in a shocking tone.

Many who knew Usman Gezawa acknowledged him as someone who never gave up on life, He is a dogged fighter when it comes to studies, very vibrant, sound and intellectually minded. Adorned with His specs (glasses), He is handsome and looks charming even on His wheel-chair.

His lifestyle was soo unique and simple, always minding his business. According to sources who are more familiar with him, Gezawa happens to be devoted to His books, He also joins the congregational prayer in the mosques. He never relented. As a matter of fact, He never allowed his ill-health to weaken His morale.

He showcased hope to the hopeless. How? By achieving feats that even those healthier than Him cannot boast of achieving. He identified His physical weaknesses and produced the best in which many of us are yet to see from those that are physically challenged. He is the best amongst the best.

Even after one long year, He remains on the lips of many of us who are not related to him, bloodline. It is our wish, hope and prayer that He is resting peacefully. His legacy will forever remain for many to follow.

May Allah’s Rahma bestow on him. May the Angel’s be His companion as He continues in the journey of the afterworld.
