Federal Government Identifies Six Dangerous Flash Points In Jigawa

The Federal Government says it has identified the six most dangerous accident flashpoints that have been claiming the lives of people along with Kano -Birnin Kudu road for over 50 years in Jigawa State.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Dr. Babangida Hussain disclosed this after inspecting the 11.5-kilometer killer spots on the Birnin Kudu highway.

Mr. Hussain explained that the visit was aimed at expressing the Federal Government’s condolences and identified the most dangerous shaft curves claiming lives of Nigerians for a possible solution.

 

“you can see this road was constructed over 50 years ago, it is already a dead road which needs a quick redesign and alignments to remove all these unnecessary bends,” he said.

‘On this single bend alone, you can see about 4 different mass graves where over 80 people were buried after they were burnt to ashes as a result of different motor accidents” he stated.

 

NIGERIAN TRACKER reported several accidents that claimed the lives of many people en route to different parts of the country due to its bad construction.

 

The one recently reported was the one that claimed the lives of 20 persons on their way to attend a wedding Fatiha in Gombe State.

The accident involved two ‘Hummer’ buses and all the passengers burnt beyond recognition.

 

The permanent secretary said a team of engineers was sent to supervised and design possible solutions.

 

According to him the first phase of the work will cover six kilometers and emphasis will be given to the identified accident flashpoints.

 

He expressed the federal government’s readiness to act quickly as soon as the team of engineers submitted their reports.
