Farmers herdsmen clash: Jigawa reconcile 162 cases

Jigawa state farmers and herdsmen resolution board said it has reconciled over one hundred and sixty-two herders and farmers clashes from 2015 to date.

 

The Executive Secretary of the board, Dr. Rabi’u Miko disclosed this in an interview with newsmen.

 

He said the state government had introduced a number of policies aimed at reducing the conflict.

 

Miko explained that the state Government rehabilitated windmills and constructed 23 ones in grazing reserves.

He said the board procured 61 motorcycles and distributed to security agencies, Miyetti Allah associations and farmers Associations (AFAN ) to served as mediators between the two parties.

 

Dr. Rabi’u Miko, therefore, commended traditional rulers for their efforts in mitigating the crisis.

 

He advised farmers and herders to desist from taking the law into their hands and learned to leave in peace with one another.

 

It was reported that scores have been killed in a different farmers/herdsmen clash especially along Birniwa and Guri axis.
