Nigeria is a pivotal country for us : Tebbas

LaLiga president, Javier Tebbas has described Nigeria as an important country as the league body continue to expand its market brand across the globe.

The president made this public on Wednesday while answering questions from some selected journalists around the world during a virtual press briefing to review down the recently concluded 2020/21 Laliga season and unveil plans ahead of forthcoming 2021/22 campaign.

According to Tebbas, Laliga is impressed with the massive support the Spanish League is enjoying from Nigerians and the league body will continue to build on its projects to satisfy Laliga fans across the country.

“Nigeria is one of the most important for countries for us.”

“We have our office there in Nigeria which we opened in 2016 and our staff are there to cater for the purpose of our fans . ”

“We have taken a team to play there (Atlético Madrid) which is part of our efforts to get the Nigerian fans more excited.”

“We were hoping more teams will play in Nigeria but unfortunately, Covid19 pandemic took a toll on our plans.”

“We have a lof of fans in Nigeria and our aim is the fan base to keep increasing.”

“I have been to Nigeria, it is a great and lovely country with deep root of history in football.”

Earlier, the president highlighted Laliga is the least affected economically among the top leagues in Europe during the ongoing Covid19 health crisis that ripped leagues and clubs finances.
