Kano Agency For The Control Of AIDS Gets USAID Award

The Kano State government’s efforts in HIV/AIDS Response has received an award of recognition by the United State Agency for International Development (USAID)for its outstanding feat in the area of HIV/AIDS case finding methods.

The Director General, Kano State Agency for the Control of AIDS, Dr. Sabitu Y. Shu’aibu Shanono hinted out shortly after receiving the award on behalf of the state government at the quarterly stakeholders program performance review meeting held in Abuja.

He stated that the award has been attributed to the commitment of Kano state Government in improving health services in Kano State.

He further stressed that in order to achieve more success in the actualisation of UN targets of 95 -95-95 ,the Agency will bring out more innovative case finding methods that are more efficient and effective including the harmonization of the premarital screening for intending couples at the designated healthcare facilities in the 44 local government of the state.

Earlier, the country chief of party Chemonics international and implementers of Sharp T 03 project in Kano Dr. Zipporah Kpamor said the award has been introduced to acknowledge the best performing State.

She congratulated Kano state government for this remarkable success and urged the state to sustained the tempo toward actualization of United Nations target to end HIV/AIDS by 2030.
