Former governor of Kano State Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is considering the move of dropping Abba Kabir Yusuf as gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party candidate in 2023.
He said the party and the Kwankwasiyya movement is yet to decide on who it should field in 2023.
Sen. Kwankwaso stated this in a meeting with a camp of the movement led by Dr Yunusa Adamu Dangwani and other stakeholders following the internal crisis that’s disrupting the movement in recent weeks.
POLITICS DIGEST reports that the distribution of Ramadan Palliatives by Dr Yunusa Adamu Dangwani has led to rift in the Kwankwasiyya movement where some members that are supporting the candidature of Abba Kabir Yusuf accused him of sabotage against Kwankwaso.
In a viral video by the organising secretary of the PDP Sanusi Surajo Kwankwaso, he accused Dangwani of trying to disunite the movement because of his ambition against Abba Kabir Yusuf, a governorship annointed candidate of PDP in the 2019 poll.
In a swift reaction while addressing newsmen, Dangwani has debunked speculations that he’s contesting for governorship stating that it’s not yet time for that.
But in a meeting he held on Monday night that lasted for three hours at his miller road residence in kano, Kwankwaso affirmed to the stakeholders that the party has no governorship candidate ahead of 2023 bit stating that it’s not yet time, the party will do that in a democratic way.
Conflict In Kwankwasiyya as Kwankwaso Accused Dangwani of Sabotage
According to a source who pleaded anonymity to this paper, some stakeholders of the movement led by Dangwani presented their greveinces during the meeting against Abba whom they describe as someone that has no respect for them, his convoluted ego has led to some of his aides refusal to respect them as stakeholders in the Kwankwasiyya movement.

The source further revealed that Kwankwaso is very careful this time, he’s trying to calm the situation looking at his issues with the national leadership of the PDP and the disrupted zonal congress that took place in Kaduna.
“Oga is not in good term with stakeholders of our party in the North West, the party at national level is not happy with him for promoting his movement and not giving priority to party issues and if he allows the internal crisis of Kwankwasiyya to worsen in Kano then the story will be different.
So, he is very careful this time and this stakeholders are very powerful, they have a large number of supporters in the movement unlike Abba that is not even in good time with people when he was Commissioner.
It’s his governorship ambition that makes him to adjust from his poor human relations with people” the source said.
Those present at the meeting include Barrister Maliki Kuliya, a former Attorney General of Kano State, Yusuf Bello Dambatta, Garba Ibrahim Diso, Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, Lawan Sale Gaya, Zainab Audu Bako among many others.
In a Caucus meeting that took place on Tuesday at Miller Road, Kwankwaso affirmed to all that there’s no gubernatorial candidate or aspirant in the movement stating that status quo should be maintained by all.
