Ed-Elfitr:Kano FRSC Deploys 1820 Personnel

In a bid to ensure crash- free and smooth traffic flow during the forth coming EId el Fitr Sallah celebrations, the Federal Road Safety Corps Kano State Command is deploying 1820 Personnel comprising 120 Officers, 1250 Mashals, and 450
Special Marshals for effective enforcement of traffic laws, traffic control at strategic locations across the State (including Routes leading to Eid Praying grounds), emergency rescue services and removal of road obstructions within the festive period. 16 Patrol vehicles, 3 Ambulances, and 1 heavy duty tow trucks are also deployed for the week long Operation which commences Tuesday 11th May 2021 and last on 17th May 2021.

The objective of the Operation is to enhance FRSC visibility on the road through deployment of personal and logistics with a view to reducing Road Traffic Crashes, fatalities and injuries on our Roads and to ensure strict compliance to Covid 19 Health protection Report 2021, as well as to ensure speedy removal of obstruction on our Roads. It is also aimed at enlightening members of the public on the need to use the road safely during the festive period.

The Command has already commenced aggressive public sensitization campaigns and Stakeholders’ engagements to ensure effective compliance to the PTF’s directives on Covid-19 protocol for inter-state travels; use of face mask by Commuters and sanitation of Motor Parks against spread of Covid-19 virus, social distancing in commuter vehicles, ensure adequate ventilation in Commuter vehicles while on transit, use of hand sanitizers by driver’s and passengers, among others.

The Operation will be focused on traffic violations such as
Speed violation, Overloading including enforcement of social distancing in commuter vehicles in order to prevent spread of Covid-19 through inter State travels, Wrongful overtaking, lane indiscipline, Road Obstruction, Dangerous driving, Use of phone while driving, Use of Seat Belt/ Child restraint use violation, Route violations, Passenger manifest violations, Mechanically deficiencient vehicles violations, Un latched and twist locks containers violation, illegal use of SPY number plates and Covid 19 HPR 2021.

The Sector Commander, CC Zubairu Mato advise Motorists and other Road users to obey Traffic rules and Regulations and drive with care within the period and beyond. The Sector Commander further assured the General Public of the FRSC Kano State Command’s commitment to ensuring crash-free Sallah celebrations in the State and warn that traffic violations would not be tolerated. The Patrol Operatives would arrest anyone caught violating the traffic rules and sanctioned according to the law.
