Kano state contingent to the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival in Edo state won 66 medals to finish among top 10 occupiers , according to the final medals table released by the organizers on Wednesday night.
Kano athletes to the games won 11 gold medals, 22 silver and 33 bronze to occupy 9th place behind Ogun who finished 8th place with 78 medals.
Banal overall leaders, Delta state retain its first position with 384 medals, while host Edo state took second place with 341 medals.
Bayelsa finished 3rd place with 169 medals, others are Rivers, 4th place with 128 medals, Lagos followed with 126 medals, Team Oyo occupies 6th position with 103 medals, Akwaibom sit on 7th position with 88 medals.
In Northern rivalry, Plateau occupies second position in Arewa classification , standing on 13th position on the final medals table with 37 medals, Kwara sit on 15th position with 44 medals,, Kaduna sits on 18th position winning 28 medals.
In a related development, Delta state have been awarded the hosting right for the 21t edition of the National Sports Festival, schedule for 2022.
The minister of Youths and Sports development, Sunday Dare announced the new host state.
It would be recalled that Kaduna state had placed its bid to host the next edition of Nigeria’s biggest sports fiesta.
