Kano state female combat athlete and medal hopeful at the ongoing National Sports Festival NSF Edo 2020 , (name withheld) have been placed under quarantine by medical officials.
Our checks revealed that the athlete last Saturday underwent Rapid Diagnostic Test, RPD, the result returned positive prompting the decision to quarantine her at the games village medical waiting room.
Sources revealed that her sample B have been taken the results were anxiously awaited, the results expected to be out within 24 hours is yet to be made public.
As at when filling this report the athlete is still in the waiting room. A medical personnel attached to Team Kano , who spoke under the condition of anonymity said there PCR results of the athlete is been awaited.
The official said ” the medical sub committee directed that she should be in the waiting room as we wait for her PCR examination result.
When contacted , the spokesman Kano state Sports Commission , KSSC Abbati Sabo said ” I cannot comment on the issue, it is technical and am yet to be properly briefed by our medical team.”
The quarantine athlete is renown for her outstanding performance that have won her laurels at previous major competitions.
Our investigations revealed that the development has infringed on the morale of Team Kano, athletes in Kano camp at the Games Village at University of Benin , Uniben have continued to express worries about the fate of their colleague in the waiting room.
